Why You Need to Take Email Validation Seriously

Email validation in content marketing

One of the best ways to make certain that your email gathering techniques are of high quality is to use email validation. You’ve already spent a considerable amount of time gathering email addresses from prospective clients, either in person or online. In either case, verifying those emails will help you maintain your sender reputation/credibility (more on that later).

What is Email Validation?

Simply put, email validation aka email verification is a process that determines whether an email address is deliverable and valid. The process of email verification begins by checking if the syntax of the email address is valid, executing an algorithm that detects typos, whether they are innocent errors or deliberate misdirections. Email verification will separate out addresses that are unsafe to deliver. Additionally, it certifies the existence of a certain email address with a reputable domain, like Gmail or Yahoo.

Importance of Email Validation

Verifying email addresses ensures that your marketing initiatives are more successful and aids in determining the most effective email gathering techniques. You might discover, for instance, that the emails you collected directly from your website are more accurate than those received through a Google Form, or the opposite may be true.

Email validation

Most email validation reports let you know which addresses are undeliverable, role-based, accept-all, and so on. With this knowledge in hand, you can make the decision to omit addresses that offer no guarantee of a secure delivery.

Email validation has a further, frequently ignored benefit in that it raises your Sender Reputation (SR). Have you ever wondered why certain emails sent to “legitimate” addresses wind up in your spam folder? Sender Reputation is all about exactly that.

Interesting Fact:

According to Marketing Week, 10% of emails typed into checkouts, sign-up forms, and internal systems are invalid, while 60% of consumers purposely provide inaccurate information when submitting their personal details online.

So what exactly is Email Sender Reputation? Sender Reputation is a score that an Internet Service Provider (ISP) assigns to an organization that sends email and determines the deliverability of those emails. The higher the score, the more likely an ISP will deliver emails to the inboxes of recipients on their network. A message may be sent to the recipients’ spam folders 😓or perhaps rejected outright by the ISP if the score is below a predetermined threshold.

Interesting Fact:

According to OptinMonster, 42% of email users do not check their spam folders.

The next time you’re tempted to send an email without first verifying the address because you’re in a rush, consider the consequences of having the majority of your emails wind up in spam folders. That is counterproductive behavior at its most extreme. You may be asking what you can do to mitigate that. Don’t worry; I have you covered.

Free Email Validation Tool

There are a number of free tools available to make email validation simple. The email validation tool from H-Supertool is the one I’ve found to be most helpful and have been using since 2021. It advertises a 98 percent accuracy and is absolutely free—there is no Pro Version! That must be something to be proud of, in my opinion. You can easily ascertain the legitimacy of any email address with the free online Email Validator.

It’s pretty easy to use
What about Bulk Email Validation? You can use the tool to verify up to 100 emails per day and 20 emails at once. Now I understand - you might think 100 isn't much, but given that it's free, it's totally worth it.
